About SIWE

Founded in 2007, the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble provides a performing outlet for 50 highly accomplished wind players and percussionists from the Bloomington and surrounding areas. We draw on the very best music from the concert repertoire for winds and percussion.

Our Most Recent Concert

SIWE capped off its second season with a program exploring the world of the fantastic. Headlining the concert was renowned saxophone soloist Otis Murphy. The program included

  • John Adams, Short Ride in a Fast Machine
  • Eric Whitacre, Ghost Train
  • Ron Nelson, Danza Capriccio (saxophone solo)
  • Johan de Meij, Gollum, from The Lord of the Rings Symphony
  • Vincent Persichetti, Masquerade for Band
  • Edward Elgar, Nimrod, from Enigma Variations
  • Paul Dukas, Sorcerer’s Apprentice
